A world-famous Icelandic politician Jon Gnarr, who took over the mayor position in Reykjavik due to a joke and helped the country recover after the bank crisis, used to say that modern politics is one of the most boring things today. His antidote for it all was humour and surrealism. The world of Formula 1 has experienced both these things in 2014 – there was a lot of space for comedy and certainly a fair amount of surrealism in the decisions that were made. We even had many examples of boring modern politics inside the motorsport industry.
