Lei Jun, the founder, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Corporation, is a rare breed of entrepreneur who has disrupted multiple industries – from software to smartphones, AIoT (Artificial Intelligence + Internet of Things), and now electric vehicles (EVs).

Since 2020, global internet usage has surged by over a billion people, reaching 5.56 billion, or 68 percent of the world’s population by January this year. While it’s easy to assume that countries with lower internet adoption face the steepest costs, the reality is far more surprising.

For decades the global economy has been dominated by a handful of nations, whose wealth, natural resources, manufacturing power and technological advancements have dwarfed the achievements of the rest of the world.

According to Ranga Kariyawasam, Group Chief Technology Officer, Dialog Axiata, the deployment of 5G is a technological upgrade and a strategic enabler that can foster economic growth by attracting foreign investment, encouraging entrepreneurship, and positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive force in the global digital economy.
