In the current issue of Logistics Update Africa we bring you a cover story on how since 2013 there has been a flow of investment into the logistics sector around the world particularly in the start-up logistics ecosystem which aims to bring in operational and cost efficiencies to a sector that is known to be perennially inefficient. We bring you two reports. The first one on how drones are increasingly being deployed for cargo deliveries particularly for healthcare and humanitarian logistics sectors. This particularly true of countries in the African continent. The second one is about how the logistics sector is preparing itself to build capacity and distribution capabilities for the Covid-19 vaccine that is being developed around the world. In the guest column in this issue Andrea Guber of IATA writes about how not to compromise quality of vaccine delivery in times of crises even though there may be several operational emergency challenges. We bring you an interview with Chaminda Gunasekera, senior director – air freight and ecommerce, Asia and MENA, SEKO Logistics, who speaks about the logistics landscape in Africa in the wake of the current crisis. The country report in this issue is on Ghana, the West African country that is attracting investment in the transport and logistics sector.
