Highlights of India Today Tamil issue dated February 18th, 2015. 1. The cover story of this issue is on World Cup. Ten world cup winning captains have penned down their memories of world cup and how to lift the cup. The first of its kind cover in any magazine in Tamil.
2. Another important story is on Congress and its all powerful leader Rahul Gandhi. With Sonia Gandhi solidly backing him, the story analyses whether Rahul Gandhi will be able to rewrite the script of the Congress.
3. A major story is on IAS officer Uma Shankar controversy. The State government has banned the IAS officer from preaching Christianity. While the government's ban is laudable, is the government really secular? Government offices hold puja every friday and have displayed pictures of Hindu Gods. The government offices also celebrate hindu functions like Ayudha Puja officially. The story analyses the hindu-secularist attitude of hte State government.
4. Another story is on Sri Rangam by-election which fell vacant after Jayalalitha was convicted. The opposition seems to be losing another golden opportunity as AIADMK seems all set to win.
5. Another story is on film maker Gautham Menon whose portrayal of women in his films is a refreshing departure from stereotype portrayal. His Enna Arinthal film that hit the screens last Thursday also has pretty, independent women in the lead. The story analyses heroines of Gautham Menon who are a class apart in Tamil cinema.
