Art and creativity are always in a state of constant change, and we’re here to capture that shift in culture. In this edition, we dig deep and have some really interesting conversations about the way art is being created and consumed today. There’s a lot happening right now, and the conversations we’re having feel different from ever before.
As we attempt to understand it all, we can’t ignore how the boundaries between cultures are becoming more fluid. One of the biggest trends we see right now is fusion music, where artists from different parts of the world are mixing their local cultures with global sounds to create something fresh, exciting, and globally appealing. It’s all about breaking down borders, and the result is music that’s connecting with a wider audience than ever before. The way these artists are using their cultural roots to create something new is fascinating. This brings us to our cover story—where we sat down with the artists of Desi Trill—Natania Lalwani, Subhi, DJ Lyan, Mumzy Stranger, and Yung Sammy—along with founders Shabz Naqvi and Ty Ty Smith. These artists are at the forefront of giving Desi fusion music the limelight it deserves, and their thoughts on the changing music industry were too good not to share. We wanted to understand what inspires them, what drives their process, and how they see the future of this interconnected global music scene.
The conversation around art has never been more inclusive, and there’s more room than ever for new voices to make their mark.
We hope this collection of stories and conversations makes you rethink how you see art, just as it did for us while putting it all together.
