Every year on 21 May UNESCO Beirut Office observes the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development to celebrate the richness of the world’s cultures and to acknowledge the essential role of intercultural dialogue to achieve peace and sustainable development. The Day is marked to promote culture and highlight the significance of its diversity as an agent of inclusive approach and positive change which was proposed at the 2005 UNESCO Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression. It represents an opportunity to honour culture’s manifold forms that includes the tangible and intangible, creative industries and diversity of cultural expressions. It is to reflect on how these contribute to dialogue and mutual understanding that can result in social, environmental and economic vectors of sustainable development. This year, the Day is celebrated under unique circumstances through the E-exhibition due to theoutbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been a major crisis impacting the whole world,a wide range of sectors, from Health to Education.
