When I started thinking about what I was
going to write about, I didn’t face the usual
lack of inspiration; it was more about selecting
what to say. How to summarize a year
in one single text? What a perilous experience,
forcing you to review ten months
under a microscope... with its peaks, its
good moments, its failures.
Introspection has surely been something
familiar for Alexander Wang, Sarah Duah
or Amaka Osakwe, three designers who
had to constantly reinvent themselves to
meet expectations page 30, after promising
debuts. Or even singer Corneille, who
spoke his mind in quite a heartfelt interview,
page 148. Some are already way past
this stage, and sail towards other horizons.
Kelly Rowland, who is our covergirl (and
what an awesome one!) this month, is
one of them. While the audience was still
seeing her as the “cool girl next door»,
the singer broke the “perfect role model”
codes (set since the Destiny’s Child era)
for the purposes of her latest album. More
dynamic, more confident, Kelly Rowland
radiates and it shows page 70! Speaking of
«radiating», we cooked a Winter Beauty 101
for the cold season page 112 just for you!
You won’t have any excuse not to celebrate
the holidays and the new year in style page
158, right?
Last but not least, was 2013 a good year?
It all depends on the memories you will
choose to keep. As for me, the FASHIZBLACK
Party page 160 is one of them and
will surely hold a special place and once
more, thanks to our fabulous readers.
