Do you remember when you caught the travel bug? I certainly recall my first bout of wanderlust, when all I wanted to do was start planning my next adventure after arriving home (after the post-flight snooze, of course). I had just returned from an epic two-week trip from Argentina. It was my first holiday without the burning gaze of my parents watching my every move — an agreement only made possible by acquiescing to my mother’s demands that I endure every travel vaccine known to man before I boarded the plane, and it was all worth it.
I learned tango moves in Buenos Aires, saw pumas in Puerto Iguazu, climbed mesmerising mountains in Salta, watched Club Atlético Paraná celebrate promotion in Posadas and saw my beloved Ireland rugby team defeat their Argentine counterparts in Resistencia and Tucumán. And that’s not to forget about the food: giant steaks, mega-sized barbecues, mouthwatering seafood and petrol station empanadas – the best, according to the locals. There were even unplanned detours to Brazil and Paraguay just for good measure. It was magical. It was different. And I was hooked.
In this issue, we provide inspiration to those willing to follow their travel temptations.
