An extension of several tax categories this year is expected to help enterprises save costs and expand investment and business activities.

- By Thanh Thu

A decree is being drafted by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to extend the deadlines for the payment of various taxes and land rents. Under the draft decree, tax and land rent payment deadlines will be extended by between two and five months, depending on the tax filing period.

For VAT, the payment deadline for the May tax period shall be extended to November 20. The deadlines for the June-September tax periods will be extended to December 21.

For taxpayers filing on a quarterly basis, the payment deadline for Q2 shall be extended to November 2, while the deadline for Q3 will be extended to December 31.

The payment deadlines for corporate income tax are also set to be extended in the same manner.

Meanwhile, for business households and individual business operators, the personal income tax payment deadlines will also be extended. The deadline schedule, as well as quarterly filing changes, is the same as for VAT.

Under the draft decree, the land rent payment deadline will be extended. For 50 per cent of the land rent amount payable in 2026 (equivalent to the first instalment of land rent due in 2026) by taxpayers whose land is leased directly by the state under a decision or contract issued by a competent state authority and who pay annual land rent, the payment deadline will be extended to November 2.
