Lexi Minetree plays a teenage Elle Woods in a prequel to Legally Blonde

The iconic role of Elle Woods - the pink-clad, chihuahua-loving fish out of water who conquered Harvard Law School - catapulted Reese Witherspoon to global stardom in 2001 hit comedy Legally Blonde.

Now, 25 years on, Prime Video's prequel series Elle takes us back to the character's teenage years in the 1990s to explore the roots of the bubbly law student.

Newcomer Lexi Minetree beat 5,000 hopefuls to win the role - and received the news from Witherspoon herself, whose production company Hello Sunshine is behind the project.
