Walking through the lobby of the Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire, Michigan, night supervisor Bridget Spencer stopped short. A 70-pound black shepherd mix lay curled on the sofa. “Where did you come from?” Bridget blurted.
There were no visitors in the lobby who could have brought in the mystery mutt. And the lobby doors were shut.
Bridget thought of a nearby animal shelter, and when she called, the rescue worker said “Scout” did belong there. “He’s never done this before, and we don’t know how he could have escaped,” she marveled. Scout had to climb a 10-foot chainlink fence surrounding his outdoor kennel, then over a second, 6-foot privacy fence, cross a busy street, then enter through two sets of automatic doors.
