The return to Sin City would give fans a sign that the Princess of Pop has put her troubles behind her.
Throughout her previous four-year residency, which kicked off in 2017, she was still under a conservatorship that gave her father Jamie and others legal control of her estate, career and personal life.
A source said of Britney's visit this week to Resorts World Theatre: "Fans are crossing their fingers this means getting to see her again in an epic Las Vegas residency concert. Resorts World has been trying to woo her for a year and Britney feels the time is now right."
The singer won a high-profile legal battle two years ago - a month before her 40th birthday - when a US judge terminated the conservatorship.
It was imposed in 2008, when she was 26, amid concern for her mental health.
CONTROVERSIAL
That came 10 years after she stormed the world with ...Baby One More Time and a controversial video in which the then pigtailed teenager gyrated along school corridors in uniform - including a micro-mini with thigh-high socks, her white shirt open-fronted and tied in a midriff-baring knot.
There were accusations that Britney was being made to perform "like a sexual puppet" and the video sparked calls for a boycott of her album and tour from The American Family Association.
