CALLS are reaching fever pitch for England to select Kobbie Mainoo for Euro 2024.
Mainoo has emerged as the shock candidate to gatecrash Gareth Southgate’s plans to conquer Europe with the Three Lions in Germany this summer.
Despite only making his first Premier League start for Manchester United in November, Mainoo has engineered a meteoric rise to the top following a string of stunning performances.
A rise which reached the summit during the international break when Mainoo made his England debut against Brazil, then followed this with a man-of-thematch display on his first start in the 2-2 draw with Belgium.
Mainoo does not turn 19 until next month, but he is displaying a level of class, maturity and attitude that belies his tender years.
