  • Ex-councillor shares platform with far-right political group PA
  • Clews lauded at the neo-Nazi annual meeting and called 'The Emperor'

A FORMER Scottish Tory councillor has emerged as a leading influencer for UK’s biggest race-hate political group.

David Clews was a keynote speaker at the recent annual rally of Patriotic Alternative (PA), sharing a platform with some notorious far-right activists.

The conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxer was hailed as an “emperor of peace” by one infamous bigot and was given a rousing reception by an audience of about 200 people.

Our photos show Clews – an ex-councillor in Renfrewshire – sharing top billing with far-right figures, some of whom have praised Hitler and called for a “holy war” against Jews.

The annual meeting of the PA group took place at a sleepy English town hall, as the group tried to avoid any cancellation that may have resulted from their true beliefs becoming known before the event.

Clews was introduced as “The Emperor” and went down a storm last month with the audience – which included former Young BNP chairman Mark Collett.

He told them: “Being here at PA the diversity that I’ve seen so far is unbelievable. So far, I have met an anti-Semite, an Islamophobe, a xenophobe, a homophobe, a transphobe and a far-right anti-vax conspiracy theorist – and that’s just Mark Collett.”

Clews, 38, went on to tell how he was brought up with rightwing values from an early age.
