Starmer's pledge on big tax cut

The Labour leader said he would reverse the staggering tax cut announced by Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng in Friday's miniBudget as part of wider set of measures that the party would introduce in government.

Speaking yesterday at the start of the Labour conference in Liverpool, Starmer said the tax cut was unfair because it handed millionaires a £55,000 tax cut.

Income tax is set separately in Scotland and the SNP has said it is no hurry to revise the 46p tax on those earning above £150,000 a year.
