Bangley Quarry Biogas whose plans for an animal waste-powered plant at a site near Haddington, East Lothian, sparked objections from residents was named as a deliberate tax defaulter&rdquo; after failing to fork out almost 325,000. The firm, based in Edinburgh, was hit with a penalty of more than 187,000 after HMRC published a list of firms they claim deliberately got their tax affairs wrong.
The business told the Record there had been a mistake and that it was disputing the penalty.
A spokesman said: The company was dormant&nbsp;[not trading] during the period, therefore no tax is due. We are liaising with HMRC to ensure the penalty is removed imminently:
