DAVID Boyd was born David Thomas Bell on June 1, 1967, and was later known as Jason Branton, John Eastman, David Smith, David Bell and David Thomas Smith.
An alternative spelling of one of his surnames was also on his files.
An ex-neighbour on Teesside said Boyd never gave his full name.
A series of police errors helped him evade justice after another man, George Heron, was cleared of Nikki's murder in 1993.

Boyd once admitted a "phase" where he "began to fantasise about both adults and children, in particular young girls".
He had a 1986 conviction for breaching the peace when he grabbed a girl in Sacriston, Co Durham, and asked her for a kiss, ordering three children with her "not to tell anyone" about it.
Convicted of a 1999 indecent assault against another girl, he told medics he had been "drunk, depressed, acting on impulse".
His 1992 statement to police showed he was the last man to see Nikki alive. Yet police did not link him to Nikki until 2017.
He was arrested in April 2018.
Northumbria Police spent the next four years testing hundreds of men across the country before charging Boyd in May, 2022, after establishing that his DNA was on zing Nikki's clothing.
