Davidson went on to kill himself with the pumpaction gun in Plymouth, Devon, in August 2021.
"I tried to stop that boy getting a shotgun because he lived in a volatile environment, Mark Davison told the hearing in Exeter.
He said Jake, who had autism, would punch holes in doors during frequent arguments with his mum.
