RISHI Sunak’s bid to become Prime Minister took a blow yesterday as a video emerged of the former chancellor boasting that he had taken money away from “deprived urban areas”.

Mr Sunak, speaking to Tory members, said he had started changing public funding formulas to ensure leafy countryside areas received “the funding they deserve”.

The comments – made as Mr Sunak spoke to grassroots Conservatives in posh Tunbridge Wells, Kent – contrast sharply from his claims his record showed he was committed to helping the poorest.
