I'VE GOT MOR LOVE TO GIVE!

IT’S not the performance that counts in the FA Trophy, what matters is getting the job done. Steve Morison knows that only too well.

Back in 2007, the Hornchurch boss was an up-andcoming striker for Stevenage Borough when Mark Stimson’s side forged through to the final.

There they met Kidderminster Harriers in the first competitive match ever played at the newly-built Wembley Stadium, watched by a record crowd of 53,262.

History will recount that Stevenage launched an incredible comeback to turn a 2-0 half-time deficit into a 3-2 victory, and that Morison was the hero with an 88th-minute winner. But the man himself remembers it rather differently.

“I was awful that day, absolutely atrocious,” he recalls. “I had a terrible game, but I scored the winner so nobody cares!
