Lakeland looking to steer Linnets

ADAM'S READY TO UP THE ANTE

ADAM LAKELAND knows King's Lynn Town's season wasn't good enough last term - but says they've a renewed determination to get Linnets smiling again.

Boss Lakeland left Curzon Ashton in late September to take over at full-time Lynn who had won just once in their first ten matches and were deep in a relegation battle.

Their path to National League North survival was a bumpy one but the arrival of Jonny Margetts and Dylan Crowe as well as Greg Taylor on loan from Woking - in January put new life into the strugglers and fine form in the run-in saw them claw their way to safety.

With survival achieved, attention has quickly turned to being ready for the new campaign and Lakeland says they are excited for the challenge.

"Whenever you go into any club, you always try to get as good an idea what you're going into as you possibly can," Lakeland, 39, told The NLP.

"But, as any manager will tell you, until you're in the building and get to know what you're working with and up against, you don't appreciate the full extent of the scenario you're coming into.

"That was certainly the case when we came down to King's Lynn. It probably took a little bit longer than we anticipated to get fitness levels up to where we could compete in games properly, increase confidence levels and general day-to-day standards.
