Apple Lisa
Apple might not have been as popular in the 80s as it is today, but even in the 80s Apple was one of the most innovative and future-thinking companies around, and nothing encapsulates that more than the release of this significant and pioneering personal computer.
Named after Steve Jobs’s daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, the Lisa was one of the first computers to feature a graphical user interface (GUI) and a mouse, making it a groundbreaking product at the time.
Despite its innovative features, the Apple Lisa was not as successful in the market as Apple had hoped. Several factors contributed to its limited commercial success, including its high price (initially $9,995), competition from the more affordable IBM PC, and a lack of available software applications.
However, the technology and lessons learned from the Lisa project heavily influenced the development of subsequent Apple products, particularly the Macintosh, which was released later in 1984. The Macintosh built upon the innovations of the Lisa and eventually became a groundbreaking success, solidifying Apple’s position as a leader in user-friendly computing.
