In its most perfunctory sense, a skin scent refers to a group of fragrances that do not project much. It can only be smelt on one's body if someone leans in and takes a serious whiff (and that is how Gucci Ode On Melancholy works a perfume oil that warms up to the spiciness of patchouli and heat of sandalwood). And for that matter, it is possibly a scent that the wearer may not be able to detect. Therein lies the USD30.6 billion question: what is the point when one considers such fragrances often belonging in the extravagant and niche or costly and designer category?
