When the founders had their first child, they started looking for chemical-free products for their baby, but they couldn't find enough options in India and ended up importing expensive and tedious products. Identifying this gap they decided to create Mamaearth, which is Made Safe certified and offers toxin-free baby care products. While they started as a brand for baby care products, they soon realised that most millennials were looking for safe and toxin-free products for themselves too. This led to them diversifying into personal care products for adults as well. The vision was to create a purpose-led brand that made products that were safe for the consumers and had a positive impact on the environment too.
Some of the most innovative products developed by Mamaearth include India's first bamboo-based baby wipes, easy tummy roll-on with hing and fennel for colic and digestion relief, and 100 per cent natural plant-based toothpaste for children between 0-10 years. Focusing on all aspects of motherhood, the brand expanded to cater to babies and their mothers with varied products ranging from sunscreen to stretch marks removal serum.
