Be inspired by other people's success, not jealous of it
Defining WHAT'S BEST

When it comes to the game of life, it's all too easy to be envious of others. There will always be someone who has more or has done more. But what if, instead of falling into this trap, you turned jealousy into inspiration and a way to encourage yourself when things feel tough?

Author Domonique Bertolucci shares the difference between doing your best and needing to be the best, and why your goals aren't the only path to success.

DON'T COMPETE

The very first thing I want you to do, to focus on being your best, is to stop competing - or at least stop competing against anyone and everyone else. There are, of course, exceptions to this. But even if you are an Olympic athlete or engaged in another activity where winning does mean everything, you still don't need to be competitive in any other aspects of your life.

You don't need to compete to have the biggest house, the largest bank balance or the smallest waist. You don't need to be the one with the highest-achieving children, the best job title or the most likes on social media. Because there is no winning this competition - there will always be someone who has more or who has done more.

Instead of trying to be the best, I want you to take the time to work out what being your best means - and then I want you to make that your focus point from now on.
