A NEW drug to treat Alzheimer's disease was fast-tracked for approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), arming physicians with another weapon in their fight against the memory robbing condition! Lecanemab, which is being marketed as Leqsebi, is not a cure.

But it appears to slow disease progression by reducing amyloid-beta plaque damaging protein clumps found in the brains of folks with Alzheimer's.

Dr. Billy Dunn, director of the FDA's Office of Neuroscience, says, "This is the latest therapy to target and affect the underlying disease process instead of only treating the symptoms."
