TEGAN TELLS ALL - ‘HOW I GOT MY GROOVE BACK!'

Antidepressants are a touchy subject, but Tegan Yorwarth has a refreshing take on her prescription meds. “I’m quite happy to have a laugh about it,” grins the bubbly Mai FM breakfast host and Celebrity Treasure Island survivor, 25, who suffers from depression and anxiety. “When something happens, I’ll say to people, ‘Lucky I’ve got my uppers!’”

She may be joking, but the pills play an important part in her mental health, says Tegan, who is buzzing with excitement over her role as a judge on the new TVNZ 2 talent show 60 Seconds, despite only recently recovering from COVID-19.

The pandemic hasn’t been an easy ride for the rising star. “It’s been a pretty challenging time,” she confesses. “With lockdown and all of that stuff, old feelings and thoughts definitely rose to the surface. But I got it into check – I went back to therapy and got myself on some medication, which helped balance me out. Now I’m in a really good spot. I can honestly tell you that I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in. It’s awesome.”
