When we wholeheartedly love someone, there is an inevitable temptation to live with him or her before marriage. Whilst some may argue that, such an arrangement may jeopardize a chance of marriage with the person, others think it is a necessary move to get to know your partner well. For those considering moving in, there are certain factors they may have to consider.

Living together before marriage gives one a chance to know one's partner better. Before moving in, what we know of our partners is only based on our meeting them at a given moment and situation. At that time, we try hard to make the occasion as agreeable as possible. We, therefore hide certain characteristics that define us. Nevertheless, when we go back to where we live, we become ourselves because we have no one to impress. That is when our real characters surface.

Therefore, in knowing your partner's character whilst living together, you will be making an assessment if he/she is the right one for marriage. The problem, however, may be how long it takes you to know your partner or how long it takes you to realize that he/she is or not the kind you can live with. That, in most cases, is dependent on the situations that may arise whilst living together. For example, if you got sick and your partner sent you home, you would realize he/she was not caring about you. You would not know that until you got sick.
