It has been quite the year for Heung-Min Son. Our player of the season for 2018/19 following his sublime performances in a Spurs shirt, the South Korean international has been relentless in his determination to continually improve his game and he is hoping he can reach even greater heights as we move into the new year.
It is on the pitch that Sonny admits he is at his happiest - scoring goals, providing assists, contributing to the cause in any way he can and, in 2019, we have certainly seen some of his best work. His highlights reel for the year is an impressive one while his output in front of goal has just continued to get better and better with every game he has played.
Sonny immediately hit the ground running for us in 2019. On his return from the Asian Cup in January, he scored in three consecutive games against Watford, Newcastle United and Leicester City to help us collect maximum points at a crucial point in the campaign. In our run to June’s Champions League Final, he struck three times against Manchester City in our memorable quarter-final clash and in the midst of all that, he made history as he netted the first-ever goal at our new home in April – a moment he will never forget.
At the end of that exhilarating campaign, Sonny said he didn’t want to stop there and, emphatically, he has been a man of his word.
Always looking to improve, the South Korean’s production has remarkably continued to rise this term. In 22 appearances this season so far, Son has been involved in either scoring or creating a goal on 19 occasions – a creative rate that is almost a third higher than what he had produced in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, he has certainly found himself back at home in N17 since our return to Tottenham, having been directly involved in 15 goals in just 15 games played at our new stadium.

OBITUARY – JOHNNIE HILLS
We were saddened to hear of the passing of John ‘Johnnie’ Hills, a defender who spent 11 years at the Club as an amateur and professional between 1950-61. He passed away at home in Brussels, Belgium, on Friday, 26 November, aged 87.
