The group stages of the competition are taking place in Sharjah and Dubai, however the two eliminators will be played in Lahore and then the final will be in Karachi, and Pietersen confirmed he would not play in those latter matches.
He said: “I am committed to Quetta because I signed a contract and when I sign a contract I fulfil my obligations of performing to the best of my abilities and that’s the bottom line.
“I am here to score runs and the team have been absolutely magnificent for three seasons.
“It’s a wonderful family here, the owners are incredibly humble, they don’t dance in the stands like some other owners but they give us full support and we know they back us.”
Pakistan fast bowler Rumman Raees questioned staging the group stages in the Middle East, with sparse crowds in attendance to watch the matches.
