LOVE or loathe him, David Warner is impossible to ignore and England fans can expect to see the same pre-Ashes ‘pantomime villain’ when the Australian vice-captain arrives in the country for next summer's Ashes.
Speaking to The Final Word podcast, the forceful opener explained that he was amused at how his comments before the recently completed series - where he compared the contest to war were interpreted by the British press. In the next breath he confirmed it won’t stop him doing it again.
“It was amazing,” he said. “I went into Google and typed in war and I looked up numerous sports stars, actors and everything who have used the same terms for anything in every day stuff.
“It was just a beaten up thing, which is as normal.”
He went on to add that it was all part of him getting in “the zone” before the stoush that matters more to him than any other.
“It’s not just an Ashes series but the talk and the hype around Ashes,” he said.
