ENGLAND captain Eoin Morgan says captaining the host nation in the World Cup is beyond his wildest cricketing dreams – and says he would sacrifice his left leg to lead his side in the final at Lord’s.
The world’s No1 team open the World Cup against South Africa at The Oval on Thursday and, appearing at an event in London yesterday alongside the other nine captains of the competing nations, Morgan spoke emotionally about the honour of leading the host nation.
“It’s incredible,” he said. “To put it into context, it’s not something I ever dreamt of. I always dreamt of scoring a Testmatch hundred as a kid or scoring the winning runs in the World Cup final, but to captain at a home World Cup, it’s something pretty special.”
