STEVE Rhodes is hoping for some home-soil success with Bangladesh at this summer’s World Cup – but admits England deserve to be firm favourites to lift the trophy at Lord’s on July 14.
The former Worcestershire coach took on the Bangladesh role last June and has since maintained the country’s progress across all three formats.
He’s under no illusions as to the scale of the challenge facing him and his side over the next two months. He’s also in no doubt that Bangladesh are more than capable of bloodying some noses.
Speaking to The Cricket Paper from Ireland, where Bangladesh are currently involved in the triseries with the hosts and West Indies, Rhodes is clearly looking forward to his return to England.
“This wasn’t something I ever thought would happen but I’m proud to represent Bangladesh,” he says. “It has given me the chance to be part of a global tournament.
