Time To Get Organised

Crowy’s planning for the ‘silly season’.

Time To Get Organised

By the time March comes around I’ve already got my tickets sorted for the coming season. This year I’ve got a few target fish in mind, ranging from Yorkshire to as far as an hour’s drive away in the north Midlands. Very often one of the tickets will end up being wasted money, as I won’t use it as much as others. However, I always like to have a few waters in my sights just in case I get lucky quickly or end up in a bit of rut with one. When it comes to target carping, a change of venue can be as good as a rest, especially on the motivation side of things.

Whether or not I get lucky only time will tell, but having everything ready for the ‘silly season’ when I get in tunnel vision mode is part of my annual carping ritual. I remember writing a feature about this very topic last year, but it’s worth repeating what my preseason planning encompasses because it is an important part of the successful carping jigsaw.

A NEW HOME

I fish an awful lot of overnighters, which involves a lot of setting up and packing down. I confess that I’m not the most patient of people when it comes to this either. I’m forever dashing between the lake, work, home, my kids’ house and my girlfriend’s. Time is of the essence with me, so very often my gear gets slung in the back of the motor as quickly as possible until I next need it. I rarely dry it out and I never clean it, so it’s fair to say that anything I use gets well worn.
