Even without playing a regular season game, Charlie McAvoy of the Boston Bruins is on the cusp of becoming a hobby sensation.

Upon completion of his collegiate career at Boston University, the 14th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft inked a deal with the Bruins. After a short four game stint with the AHL’s Providence Bruins, he was able to make his debut under the intense spotlight of the opening playoff match against the Ottawa Senators.

Making a major splash with fans and teammates alike, he recorded an assist in Game 3. The Bruins faced elimination in Game 5, but thanks in part to his hard work, they forced a sixth contest as he assisted on Sean Kuraly’s double-overtime winner. He reflected on the moment, which he regards as one of the greatest in his career to date.
