The Scottish SPCA has pleaded with the public not to take in baby deer they spot alone in the wild after numerous animals were removed from their mums.

It’s part of a campaign to raise awareness that fawns people mistake for being abandoned have been left there while their mums forage for food or look for a new nesting site.

The charity is reminding the public to be #WildlifeWise and leave them where they find them.

The aim is to educate the public on when they should contact them about young wildlife.

Four fawns were admitted to the SSPCA’s National Wildlife Rescue Centre, near Alloa, between May 18 and 23, with three taken from their natural environment.
