They’ve won 22 points from nine games in their bid to reach Step 3 under ambitious chairman Ryan Haigh, but Colne’s promotion dream is now on hold with the campaign unable to finish as normal.
“It’s all question marks at the moment, ” Rooney told The NLP. “Like everyone has had to, we’ve man- a g e d the suspensions between everything, from our angle we want the opportunity, in some capacity, to attempt to finish the league.
“Whoever is at the top of the league, I think, will always want that outcome, but the ones who aren’t fighting for anything may want to see the season come to an end which I can understand.
“I think if all the teams can agree to 50 per cent of the league, 18 games each, the majority of teams have played around the halfway mark already.
