HOW ABOUT these Bromley boys? The club immortalised in a much-loved book-turned film have been promoted to the EFL for the first time in their 132-year history.

BROMLEY BOYS ARE IN THE BIG TIME

With a flash of a smile and a deep breath, captain Byron Webster stepped up in the penalty shoot-out to to fire in the decisive spot-kick.

Keeper Grant Smith had set the platform with two penalty saves before Webster, donning the EFL captain’s armband he’s been wearing all season, thumped them into the Football League.

Super fan Dave Roberts, who wrote the Bromley Boys book that told the story of watching the worst team in English football, sadly passed away in 2021.

But you can be sure he would have been smiling on Andy Woodman’s Ravens as they came through a tense promotion final against Solihull Moors, having been twice pegged back when leading through Michael Cheek goals.

It was a clash of two sides both looking to reach the Promised Land of League football for the first time ever.

Moors have been at this dance before, losing in extra-time to Grimsby Town at the London Stadium just two years ago.

Woodman’s Bromley lifted the FA Trophy at Wembley the same season but this promotion has always been the ultimate goal.

Bromley’s previous playoff trips have ended at the eliminator stage and, last year, in the semi-finals.

When they got to the last dance, they were determined to take their moment on the big stage.
