I’D BE RATHER amused to know that I would be driving a nimbler version of the Audi RS 5 on the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), but fate had already planned it for me. Having absorbed the opulence of the RS 7, the company’s new RS 5 Sportback seems like a more agile, yet luxurious performance coupe. It has taken its time to arrive at Indian shores, which is why the anticipation to step into its cockpit nearly consumed me.
At first glance, one may notice that the RS 5 Sportback has only subtle differences from its predecessors, but the more you observe, the more the cosmetics seem to grow on you. For starts, it has 40mm wider wheel arches. Its features are more defined with sharper character lines and redesigned LED taillights. The wide singleframe grille with handsome matrix LED headlamps on either side, gives it a sporty edge. It comes with standard 19-inch wheels, which can be upgraded to 20 inches. What hasn’t changed is the long hood, balanced proportions, and arched roofline.
