SUPER TWINS ...CONCEIVED THREE WEEKS APART!

One mum has become a medical marvel after she conceived twins – three weeks apart!

Rebecca Roberts, 39, fell pregnant with her daughter, Rosalie, when she was already carrying her son, Noah.

Known as a ‘superfetation’, there have only been a few recorded cases of this phenomenon across the world. It’s a rare event in which another egg is released in ovulation and another successful pregnancy occurs while the woman is already pregnant.

On September 17, 2020, Rebecca, a children’s clothing maker from the UK, gave birth to Noah, weighing 2.09kg, and Rosalie, just 900g. Her husband Rhys, 43, was by her side.

Rosalie was transported to a specialist hospital for 95 days. Noah remained in hospital for three weeks and three days before going home to meet his 14-year-old sister, Summer.

“We feel really lucky. It’s so lucky to have twins anyway, but to have such special twins, it’s so lovely, it’s wonderful, they are a blessing,” says the mum of three.

Rebecca was shocked to find out that she was having twins at her 12-week scan, after her two previous scans only showed one baby.
