NOT EVERYONE IS HAPPY ABOUT THE SHOW’S ALL-NEW LOOK
SUNRISE'S - BIGGEST EVER COVER-UP!

If one thing is clear since Samantha Armytage’s sensational departure from Sunrise, it’s that the new-look line-up – which has seen former newsreader Natalie Barr step up as co-anchor alongside David Koch – is stronger than ever! Yet, while ratings on the program remain steady and the smiles are aplenty, insiders within the Seven Network say there is one person who has struggled with the show’s new shakeup – Edwina Bartholomew.

Speaking to New Idea under the promise of anonymity, a network source says Edwina, 37, has been quietly peeved by the swift appointment of Nat as the shiny new anchor.

“She was rightly miffed when Sam made the announcement. One day she was out the door and the next day they announced Nat as her replacement – there was no opportunity for Eddie to put her hand up to say, ‘pick me,’” explains the source, who says the star was, at the very least, “hoping for a look in”.

According to the source, the past few weeks have been tough on Edwina.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow. The truth is, Eddie was not entirely happy with how it all unfolded. She has always regarded herself as a firm favourite after years of loyalty,” says the source.

Thankfully, our insider confirms any resentment Edwina has for not getting the role is not directed at Nat – who she is very proud of publicly.
