It&rsquo;s no surprise that kids enjoy sharing their enthusiasm with sound, and what better way to celebrate Halloween than with colorful noisemakers? Collector Rosemary Olson fell in love with all things vintage Halloween and has been amassing a collection of these seasonal trinkets for over 20 years. &ldquo;They&rsquo;re all old vintage noisemakers and little clickers I found at flea markets,&rdquo; she says. &ldquo;Halloween in the 1920s was big on this stuff. You could find them made up to the &rsquo;50s and &rsquo;60s and then they stopped.&rdquo;A RARE FINDThankfully, noisemakers in all shapes and sizes are still being sold at flea markets, and Rosemary will add to her collection any chance she can get. &ldquo;They&rsquo;re becoming harder to find, but I still see them occasionally at flea markets,&rdquo; she says.TRICK OR TREATMany reproductions are now being made to make up for their dwindling numbers, and the trick is to study their condition. &ldquo;The new ones are too new-looking,&rdquo; Rosemary says. &ldquo;The older ones are worn, especially at the handles.&rdquo; If it&rsquo;s still difficult to tell, look up the company and where they were made. &ldquo;A bunch of old noisemakers are imported from Germany,&rdquo; she says. &ldquo;They were made by a few companies back in the day, but Beistle was the most popular company in the U.S.&rdquo;
