Our Naked Truth
Women's Health Australia|September 2018

The good, the bad, the loving, the judgey. Here, women from around the world divulge their innermost thoughts on nakedness and body image

Our Naked Truth
The most powerful mind-body connection that exists? We’ve got a nomination: body image and health. It’s hard to discuss taking care of yourself without first addressing how you think about yourself. The way we talk about our bodies affects our wellness choices. Exercise or sink into the couch? Eat a fuelling meal or load up on treats? Take a mental break or power on until you feel like you’re about to drop? To unpack this complex issue, we surveyed Australian Women’s Health readers and tapped up top experts. Go on, discover your truth. YOU’RE OK WITH YOUR BODY

When we asked you how you feel about your body, 40.1 per cent of you said you were happyish or super-happy, while 34 per cent were accepting. Yeah, that’s pretty awesome.

THE THING THAT GETS YOU DOWN

Almost half of you (46 per cent) pointed to the comparison trap as having the greatest impact on your body image. This was followed closely by self-criticism (40 per cent).

A YEAR CAN CHANGE SO MUCH

Compared with a year ago, 41 per cent of you feel more confident now (high fives!). Out of those people, 70 per cent credit the change to new healthy habits while 20 per cent have worked on accepting your body as is. Love.

The AI Revolution Is Coming: Here's How To Future -Proof Your Career

Robots are coming for your job. Not only yours, but another 20 million jobs around the world over the next 10 years. That’s how media outlets reported on the results of a 2019 paper released by global forecaster Oxford Economics. If you think that sounds rather dystopian, wait until your anxiety-fuelled googling brings up news headlines claiming it’s actually 800 million jobs – not a meagre 20 mill – that will be eliminated by robots by the time 2030 hits.
