A tech-free holiday can ensure stronger couple bonding.
Earlier this year, Dhiraj Arora and his wife Priti, both entrepreneurs, went for a rejuvenating ayurvedic panchkarma programme at a resort in Kottayam, Kerala. Apart from the therapy, the resort offered another, more unusual, advantage: it was a gadget-free zone. The place made sure that couples enjoyed uninterrupted bliss as they underwent their treatments.
Priti says, “The resort had no mobile network connectivity or Wi-Fi. Besides, the policy discouraged us from connecting to the digital world until the treatment was complete. The programme’s organisers told us that digital distraction could agitate the mind and in turn hamper the effects of the therapy.” The Aroras signed up for a 14-night-15 day detox programme, which had them starting their days with yoga, followed by various treatments. In the afternoons, they relaxed with a book. After an early evening therapeutic session, the couple went for sunset walks. Dinners were served at 7pm.
Call it the discipline of the place or the healing they experienced, the couple didn’t miss social media, WhatsApp or even connecting with their team for work deadlines.
