Cheater's Code

Nisha Singh*, a 32-year-old homemaker in Delhi, had been noticing a growing intimacy between her husband, a techie in his late 30s, and a colleague of his, over a few months. Nisha would spend hours waiting for her husband, who was almost always with the colleague. Ostensibly, they discussed projects together. When she tried to bring it up, he was furious, indignant and said he wasn’t sexually involved with the woman.

Singh finally resorted to snooping around. When her husband was away, she checked his WhatsApp messages only to find long chats with the colleague, who “understands” him. She found that her husband had been telling the woman things which he hadn’t even shared with her. Clearly, he was growing emotionally attached to this colleague of his. Your partner doesn’t have to be having sex with someone else for it to count as cheating. An emotional betrayal, in fact, has the power to destroy the very fabric of your marriage.
