Myanmar (formerly called Burma) is known as Suvarnabhumi or the Golden Land.
It has a fertile soil, the rivers and streams are full of fish, its forests contain valuable timber, and the earth is rich in crude oil, minerals and precious stones. The finest rubies in the world come from Myanmar.
Myanmar is roughly diamond shaped, so that it looks like a kite with the river Irrawaddy forming the 'string'.
