Monsoon blues disappear as we get away from the crowded city in a bright blue Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé

IT IS RAINING OUTSIDE. Through the foggy glass pane you can see a crowded city getting ready for another chaotic morning. Sigh. Sometimes, you need an escape. You can go on a trip somewhere far away for a while and have a vacation of sorts. But well, that takes time. You need somewhere closer to go to. And a car that can take you there fast. Maybe somewhere like Lonavala could do the trick. Far away from the popular tourist hotspots, the roads would be fantastic and the hills beautiful to look at and admire while you get yourself a cup of tea to go with the drizzling rain.

I was just having that thought along with a hot cup of tea one fine weekday when I was asked to take the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé for a weekday getaway into the hills of Lonavala. I couldn’t ‘Keep Calm’. I wanted to leave right then, right there. So, we left as quickly as we could and picked up the car. It struck me that photos don’t do justice to this car. It sure looks brawny and muscular but in the flesh it is a different beast altogether. The sloping roofline, the athletic nose and huge proportions have to be seen to be believed.

We started towards Lonavala with the big butch SUV coupé feeling silent and comfortable. It didn’t mind the terrible pothole-ridden roads that we had to get through. The engine too made no fuss about pottering around at slow speeds in bumper to bumper traffic. It had ample room inside and the sloping roofline doesn’t really eat up into the headroom as much as I thought it would. Suffice to say, Gaurav was happy.
