The AMG Emotion Tour 2021 kicked off with a drive to the coffee estates of Chikkamagaluru, with 20 AMGs and their enthu-cutlet drivers in tow

PINCH ME. ACTUALLY, SLAP ME. Wait, gouge my goddamn eyes out. What? No, I’m not some masochistic deviant, you are the pervert for even thinking that — I could see some eight AMGs in front of me and another seven behind me. On a public road. In India. It was un-bloody-believable! I was having a hard time deciding where to look. The winged rump of the GT 63 S framed by my windscreen looked gorgeous but there were also the punch hole LEDs of the G 63 sitting squarely in the rear view mirror. Choices, choices. Look ahead, I decided, as I didn’t want to rear-end the GT. But that thought lasted only for a moment — the GT dropped three gears and bellowed into the distance, only to be followed by the G 63 and the other fire-snorting AMGs behind it. “AMG is an emotion,” one of the guys who rocked up in a GLC 43 had said to me earlier that morning. Now I knew exactly what he meant.

AMG Emotion Tour

Calling the Emotion Tour a ‘drive’ would be simplifying it to its bare-boned basics, and then dealing it a dollop of disrespect. The AMG Emotion Tour is an experience. An exclusive one at that. It is a group of enthusiasts coming together to drive AMGs, yes, but also to talk cars, experience the Thrill of Driving, get a glimpse of how vast AMG’s spread is and most importantly, have fun. This was the first one to be held in 2021, in fact, the first one to be held ever since the pandemic struck early last year. And evo India was executing it — end to end.
