Sadly, not a huge amount was known about the early years of the Samba’s life back in Sweden, other than that it was delivered to a S. R. Montin Vasteras on December 21st, 1954. Carl said: “My first task was to take it down to Smiths VW in Cornwall ,where Matt advised that I should have it sandblasted by the guys at Blasting Die Past in Bristol.” He continues: “However, once we got it back, it soon became clear that not only would we be replacing the entire lower six inches of the body but also the entire chassis, too.”
