As a youngster, Daneel’s dream was to own a big truck with a big engine.

His father taught him from a young age that he should never stop dreaming. At the beginning of this year, he started looking around for an old Ford Truck in good condition. He struggled to find a vehicle and eventually decided to look for something he could add his personal touch to and build it for his needs and to suit his vision. He purchased this truck from a guy who lives in the Kempton Park area of Joburg. This is quite an interesting story. The truck could be driven however, it did not have the proper paperwork. Daneel decided to try his luck and started the drive from Kempton Park to Pretoria East but after 5km decided to stop and call a tow truck as the F100 is quite a head turner and was drawing a lot of attention.

The original plan for the build was to change minor things such as brakes, wiring, clean up of the original 4.9 straight 6 engine, minor body work, new upholstery and tyres. The body was in a good condition with only a few dents, scratches and cracks. The only place that had some rust was underneath the truck and on the tailgate. It was sent to Wynand at Sandblasting Boys to be sandblasted under the load bin including the chassis. The bodywork, all done in-house by Classic Restorations, took a total of 2 weeks to complete. Luckily, due to the body being fairly good, they did not have to import any additional panels. This is often the case with regards to projects like this one. With the body work in motion, it was time to start on the rest of the truck.
